Shant Melkonian is the Academic Coordinator and has been teaching ESL for almost fifteen years since first receiving a certificate in ESL from the New School for Social Research, followed by a Masters in TESOL from Adephi University, both in New York City. He started teaching in New York, first in community English programs, then moving on to Touro College's School of Communication. He accepted a position at Hunter College's International English Language Institute (IELI) where he taught across the skills with a concentration on teaching writing and grammar.
Shant was later appointed to the administrative position of writing and tutorial coordinator at the IELI. While at Hunter College, he joined the faculty of the English Language Institute at Pace University, where he has been teaching primarily integrated writing and grammar classes and the pre-graduate academic skills course. He is now, upon leaving Hunter College, the ELI Academic Coordinator for PAce and he also continues teaching in the ELI Intensive Program.
