Brian Hickey, Director

Brian is University Director of the Pace University English Language Institute, which includes the Intensive English, Pre-Undergraduate, Pre-Graduate, English for Professionals, and English for Lawyers Program. He has been working in the English Language Institute at Pace University since 1994 and, among his many duties, he has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to international students, non-native English speaking professionals, and recent immigrants, developed and coordinated English language programs and support courses for Pace University Schools and Departments, including the Lubin School for International Business Development, Dyson College School of Public Administration, and Lienhard School of Nursing, and developed and implemented customized training programs in Oral and Written Business English Communication for corporate, government, and medical professionals in the New York Metropolitan area.

For the past 25 years, Brian has been involved in English as a Second Language (ESL) teaching and administration. He has taught ESL in both the United States and Japan. In the United States, Brain has worked in the New York Metropolitan area as an ESL and development English teacher for Empire State College (SUNY), Hunter College (CUNY), New York University, Columbia University, and Westchester Community College. He has also worked as Academic Coordinator and Director of a university-based Intensive English program at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, and Manhattan College in Purchase, New York. In Japan, he taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for the University of Pittsburgh, Japan Program in Tokyo.

Brian is fluent in German, has an intermediate knowledge of Spanish, and a basic familiarity with Dutch, French, and spoken Japanese.
